RoboChamps: Introduction to C++ via VEX V5
This 10-week course is designed to introduce middle schoolers to the basics of C++, one of the most widely-used and powerful programming languages in the world.
Using real-world projects and the VEX V5 platform as a hands-on tool, students will explore essential programming concepts such as variables, data types, loops, conditionals, and functions. The course incorporates engaging activities like building simple games and controlling VEX robots, making coding both fun and practical. By the end of the course, students will complete a final project, presenting their own C++ program. No prior experience is necessary, just basic typing skills and enthusiasm to learn.
Target Students:
Students who either have no prior programming experience but are good at logical thinking and are willing to work hard to comprehend abstract programming concepts, or have solid programming experience in other programming languages (Scratch, VEXcode IQ, Python etc.) and want to build their programming skills in a more powerful and professional language.
Learning Outcome:
After this class, students will understand the basics of C++ and its applications in robotics. They will be able to implement core programming concepts in C++ via hands-on projects that promote critical thinking, problem solving and collaborating skills.
