Course Description:

Welcome to RoboQuest Intro to Robotics: Ocean Science, an exciting and playful 10-week course designed specifically for our youngest learners in grades K-2. This course introduces young learners to the wonder of an underwater journey to learn about marine science using robotics in action. Using the VEX GO kits, students design and program an underwater-inspired robot to navigate in ocean ecosystems, act like underwater research tools and understand concepts such as biodiversity, habitats, and environmental conservation. The course encourages creativity, teamwork, and curiosity while nurturing basic STEM skills.

Objective:

The RoboQuests course is primarily designed to familiarize students with the fundamentals of robotics, as well as ocean science principles by integrating them into the process of building, programming, and problem-solving in order to explore this exciting world of marine ecosystems. Throughout the process, students will be learning scientific inquiry and engineering skills while investigating issues in ocean conservation and the technology used to study and protect our oceans.

Course Outcomes:

By the end of this 10-week course, students will:

  • Build and Operate Basic Robots:  Engage in hands-on activities to build and assemble robots using the VEX GO kits, which model equipment used in ocean exploration.

  • Understand Marine Science Concepts: Learn about key ocean topics including biodiversity, habitats, and conservation to build environmental awareness.

  • Develop Problem-Solving and Teamwork Skills: Tackle age-appropriate challenges that encourage students to work together in teams to build and program robots, solve underwater-inspired challenges, enhancing critical thinking and teamwork.

  • Gain Fundamental Programming Knowledge: Practice basic programming to maneuver a robot through challenges that model real-world ocean research.

  • Ignite a Love for STEM: Develop an early interest in robotics and technology, laying the groundwork for future learning and exploration in STEM fields.

Why Enroll?

RoboQuest Introduction to Robotics: Ocean Science is the perfect mix of robotics and marine science for students interested in the underwater world who want to build in engineering and technology skills. It encourages creativity and teamwork, introduces hands-on robotics, and fosters environmental awareness. Explore the ocean as a scientist, learn how to program robots, and understand technologies used in real-life marine conservation! Whether your child is taking their first steps into the world of technology or simply loves to build and create, this course will inspire a passion for learning that can last a lifetime.
